Another storm to start this week! I hope you all enjoyed your extended weekend and were able to have indoors.
We have had many absences over the past couple of weeks due to sports and illness. I was attempting to work guided reading groups around those that were absent, but it became very difficult. I have decided that I will follow my schedule and will do my best to help students who missed their lesson to catch up the following day. We are working on reading strategies that help readers to look for information and use what they have found to better understand what they are reading. There are many strategies that I be working on with different reading groups; justifying how we perceive a character, who is telling the story, comparing characters and questioning as we read. Sights words that we will be working on this week in grade 2 are; cou, demain, je dis, en, jouer, jusqu'à, tête, et yeux. Sights words that we will be working on this week in grade 3 are; comme, il y a, pluie, après, content, aller, chapeau, bottes, pieds, et enfin. The structure of the week is : Je suis allé(e) ... In Théo et Raphaëlle, we are finishing reading La Neige qui ne voulait pas tomber! In Astuce, we will be reading Boum le Lapin. Students are learning to regroup in grade two and subtraction strategies. Students are learning to draw matrices and write multiplication sentences in grade three. If you are practicing at home, another way to say three times four equals twelve, is three groups of four make twelve. This helps a learner visualize the concept. Have a great week! Bethany
