La foire agriculture
What a fun way to learn about many aspects of the agricultural field! We enjoyed fresh fries from Cavendish farms, petted many animals, including a rooster, learned about bees from both a French beekeeper and English beekeepers. We are growing tomatoes in our classroom from seeds at another station. Here are a few photos from our time at the East Link center this past Monday.
Les forces invisibles - internal
We learned about many internal forces that ultimately help us to stay healthy.
- We discussed healthy eating and the new Canada Food Guide. During this week we prepared hummus as a snack to share together. You can try the recipe here. We discussed how exercise and rest is important for our health.
- During two gym classes, we measured our heart rate after completing different exercises (jumping jacks, walking, stair climbing and running) for 1 minute. We calculated the difference between our heart rate after these activities and our resting heart rate to find out which activities raise our heart beat the most.
- We also discussed how to stay healthy by washing our hands and keeping germs to ourselves or at home.
We also discussed how our words are invisible forces also and can help someone or hurt someone. We read many books including Jolie Sorcière, Chrysanthemum, La couleur de mes émotions and many others. Students learned how to be a friend to stop bullying before it starts. They also learned how to stop bullying if it was happening to them or to a friend.
